Ginny Brown-Waite Snubs Main Street Businesses

While Ginny Brown-Waite may say that she's focused on the economy, her vote yesterday proves that she is asleep at the switch.

The House passed the Jobs for Main Street Act, without the support of Ginny Brown-Waite, that will create the jobs of the future, make sure public schools teachers, police officers and firefighters stay on the job, help small businesses get access to the credit they need to survive, provide job training for unemployed Floridians and extend COBRA benefits for those looking for work.  To me this is a perfect example of providing incentives for economic recovery, both for small businesses and working families.

Ginny Brown-Waite must disagree with creating new jobs because she voted against all these helpful measures in Congress yesterday:

  •             Creating construction jobs to repair crumbling bridges and roads
  •             Creating jobs to modernize public buildings
  •             Creating jobs to renovate schools
  •             Eliminating fees on SBA loans
  •             Increasing SBA loan guarantee to 90% so banks will start lending to small business
  •             Helping states save or create public school jobs
  •             Providing money to hire more police officers
  •             Providing money to save or create firefighter jobs
  •             Providing money for green energy job training for unemployed workers
  •             Providing job training money for high-growth and 21st Century jobs
  •             Extending unemployment benefits for families in need
  •             Extending COBRA health care benefits for unemployed workers

To me, these are exactly the kinds of common sense public investments we need to jump start our economy and get America working.  I'm going to hold Ginny Brown-Waite accountable for her pandering, hypocrisy and wrong-headed approach to our economy.  But I'm going to need your help to do it.

So please help me end 2009 on a high-note by contributing $25, $50, $100 or more online today by clicking here.  We can't afford another two years of Ginny Brown-Waite's inattention to our economy.  We need to restore common sense in Washington and firing Ginny Brown-Waite will be a good start!  So do what you can despite the tough economy and Holiday Season.

Sincerely,

Jim Piccillo
